What is a Bonded Warehouse?

A bonded warehouse is a special type of warehouse where goods are stored under customs supervision but remain temporarily without payment of customs duty. This system is one of the key tools of world trade.

Types in Azerbaijan

Open type warehouses: Any importer can use; operator is a licensed company.

Closed type warehouses: Only for the warehouse owner's own goods; opened by large importers.

Storage Duration

In Azerbaijan's bonded warehouses:

• Standard: 3 years storage
• Extended: Longer with relevant permits
• On expiry: import, re-export, or destruction

Eligible Goods

• ✓Electronics, textiles, construction materials, equipment, consumer goods

Not eligible: Perishable food (requires special warehouse), hazardous materials (special permit), narcotics.
